Help Living Prairie Museum staff collect native seeds in some of Winnipeg’s prairie habitats. Collecting seeds from different sites improves genetic diversity in local restorations. Volunteers learn about efforts to produce native seeds as well as sustainable harvesting practices. You can keep some of the seeds you collect.
New location – Volunteers can harvest native seeds from Living Prairie Museum seed plots in St. Norbert. See rows of native grasses and wildflowers and learn how these seeds are used throughout Winnipeg. The location of the seed plots will be provided upon registration.
